I’m Taifa McLarin. I am a Mental Health Therapist serving the Georgia area.
I am a nationally certified and licensed professional counselor. I have years of experience in many areas of the helping professions. Human services, social services, bereavement services and mental health are all areas in which I have used my experience to create a perspective on the need to live a mentally healthy life. I understand the feeling that one can get when feeling trapped in the circumstances of life. I feel that offering a unique perspective even in the most difficult circumstances offers a mental freedom necessary to feel the choices you may have to work toward being your happiest and best version of yourself.
Think of the word relax. The ability to relax is learned and thus must be practiced. Relaxation does not always come on the first try nor on command. Helping people to achieve relaxation and practice is necessary. Along those same lines helping people to achieve a new perspective and healthier thought process upon command with strategized signals is a fantastic goal. Helping people to associate relaxation, comfort and a healthier perspective with talk therapy and other therapeutic or symbolic actions is a worthy cause that will also extend outside the walls of therapeutic sessions, with practice and conditioning. Healthy and appropriate prompting is a strategy utilized by many clinicians. It can be described as a form of support by offering suggestions based on what someone describes their needs to be.
I believe in definitions. I believe in creating personal definitions for important words that effect how we feel and view both ourselves and our lives. Words such as success and failure carry significant energy and power. How we classify our experiences as either success or failure is subjective and therefore we must create our own personal meaning behind the words. Positive energy and power exists in every individual but unleashing that power and energy can begin with your wording.
Your words carry power not only to you but to those you speak them to. Therefore, when you speak it should be with obvious intent and purpose. A change in wording or language leads to a change in one’s thought process and then a change in behavior. It’s amazing how even the smallest of change to your perspective can lead to a more balanced existence even while working through life issues and personal concerns. Your view of life is your source of energy. I would love to be your partner in working out a perspective and view of life that works best for you, offering you the positive energy and sense of power that you deserve.
